The 2014–2015 academic year: full of ambitious projects!

Even though the universities were on summer break, news about the Campus Montréal fundraising campaign continued to attract attention — as far away as Europe. The highlight was the June announcement of the new Campus Montréal Foundation, established under the auspices of the Fondation de France. It will allow HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and the Université de Montréal to accept donations from alumni living in France and other European countries who will now be able to give their alma mater a boost, while receiving the tax benefits to which they are entitled.

The new Foundation was funded in part through a generous contribution from Pierre Dufour, Polytechnique Montréal alumnus and Senior Executive Vice-President of Air Liquide in Europe, who also played an instrumental role in setting up it up. Already extremely active as a member of the Campus Montréal Executive Cabinet, Mr. Dufour has shown that donors not only invest money, but also time, in the initiatives they support. My sincere thanks go to Mr. Dufour for his contribution and involvement.

Now that campus life is back in full swing, we can expect to make further exciting announcements, including several in the fall about new donations and fill you in on details of the campaign’s progress. Blog posts will focus more fully on flagship projects and keep shining the spotlight on talented individuals.

The Campus Montréal fundraising campaign is doing well and I’m excited with what this new year will bring. I would like to take the opportunity to express my appreciation to each and every Campus Montréal volunteer and donor. It is thanks to you and your commitment that this campaign is proving so successful and that I can continue to spread the word about this worthy cause. To our students, I wish you every success with your studies. Lastly, as a sports enthusiast, I look forward to a great season ahead for our Carabins athletes, who always bring excitement and a sense of pride to their many fans. Have a great school year!
